A Spooky Halloween

I was walking in the garden,
When suddenly I felt a chill.
I looked around but saw nothing,
I was frightened, so I stood still.

Then I noticed all the lanterns,
Were lit in all the trees,
A moaning sound came from the hill,
I felt that I would freeze.

I noticed across the bridge,
A sight I'd never seen.
It was a casket in the grass,
All covered up with leaves.

I usually have some friends,
That play with me in the park,
But tonight I will avoid,
The black cats in the dark.

Black cats usually mean bad luck,
So I will stay within the light,
I'd hate to see his bright green eyes,
Light up on Halloween night.

The lanterns light up the trees,
Making shadows like human beings.
One might look like a ghost flying,
And some like bats and things.

I'm just a simple house cat,
I wouldn't hurt a flea,
But some things in this garden,
Aren't as gentle as me.

I can hear the ruffling of the leaves,
And think of what could be,
Hiding in the bushes,
Things that I can't see.

Then I begin to think of ghosts,
And goblins because of fright.
I hope it's not that black cat,
That I've avoided not to fight.

I see limbs blowing in the wind,
And some make ghostly sounds.
I think it must be lower ones,
Swishing across the ground.

I'd be glad to see a friend of mine,
To give me some support.
I get rather scared at times,
I'd like to be back on my porch.

Away from ghosts and witches,
And bats darting all around,
Rustling sounds of leaves,
And owls making hooting sounds.

Well, at least it will be another year,
Until it's here again.
I hope to be a little braver,
And things won't seem the same.

Just watch for witches and cats,
With green eyes causing fright,
Or better still,
Just stay home on Halloween night.
