Abandoned

Many ships have been abandoned.
On the dark and stormy seas,
Some damaged from pirates battles,
Too badly torn for pirates needs.

Some have been in use for many years,
They are now just rotted hulls,
But still they carry mysteries within,
Discarded weapons or remains of human skulls.

It's hard to understand the way pirates lived,
And what brought them to the sea,
Was it the mystery of the ocean,
Or the dangers that they seek.

Some people are just hard hearted,
No feelings for anyone,
Their life is lived just seeking trouble,
Love and feelings just never seem to come.

I'm sure that some had wives or girlfriends,
But they came last in their lives,
No room for them or children,
Only their own selfish desires.

Some must have stood on shore,
Waiting to see the sails,
And longing to see their loved ones,
And wondering if they survived the gales,

Storm clouds dark and full of fury,
Often come unnoticed in their busy day,
Preparing for their next battle of a ship,
And the valuables they will take away.

They rob and take and store it all,
Preparing for times ahead,
Not caring about the ones they hurt,
Or those they left for dead.

They keep the best ships they attack,
And abandon the old ones at sea,
Some ships will someday drift ashore,
And tell of things you'd never believe.

They'd had to have the love for the ocean,
And the mysteries far beneath,
To put themselves in danger daily,
For everything else they leave.

No comforts of home, or children,
Just ocean as far as they could see,
Living about like animals,
With no future to ever be.

Some day when they grow older,
You'd think they would see,
That there's more to life than wandering,
And spending life on sea.
