"Advocate"

I sighed in deep despair and grief,
I trembled in the dark,
I did not know which way to turn-
And knew not, where to start.

I cried unto my Saviour
And fell in cold despair,
I held my heart out to Him-
And cried for all His care.

He whispered gently to my soul
Hush now, my little one,
I love you, I am here for you-
In Me you are so loved.

I then believed my Lord had heard
While all seemed dark and grim,
I clearly felt the horror lift-
Now all was safe with Him.

I knew He took my heavy heart
To share it at the Throne,
To intercede to God for me-
And bear me as His own.

I needn't keep now of the pain
But let Him pray it through,
With all His power to crush the sin-
And cleanse my soul anew.

I understood He'd keep on praying
And taking every sin,
My own sin and all around-
He said, He'd cover them.

He can't pretend that it's all good,
Nor sweep it all away,
But present it, to the Father-
To say, I died for this....That Day.

For there the justice of the Father
Was completely satisfied by Christ,
My sin cannot be punished now-
Because He bore my plight.

If I but seek for mercy
And give my sin to Him,
Then He forgives and intercedes-
And cleanses me within.

Then every time that I forget
And sin at any time,
I but confess it to my Lord-
And to Him it is assigned.

He takes it to the Father
And says, I died for this,
I advocate that it be cancelled-
Deleted from the list.

For every sin, He gave His life,
He took it.....unto death,
My sin is gone for evermore-
For me He died, He wept.

How can I thank my Saviour, Lord,
I cannot say enough,
He is my life, my every breath-
My Friend, unending love.

I live each day, secure in Him,
Set free from sin and hell,
My heart and mind and spirit kept-
In Jesus.....All is well.
