All By Myself
I always walk with Dad each day,
Well, that was when he'd be at home,
Now I walk each day and think,
As I walk that path alone.

I often think about our Holidays,
And all the Christmas parties,
And how we celebrated our time together,
Before he joined the Army.

I wish I could go back,
But time...like the Army, marches on.
Just to walk with him again,
But for now, I'll walk alone.

My Mom and brothers miss him too,
But when they all grow up,
They'll join the Army, or Services of such,
To serve their Country, drink from that cup.

We are a family of dedication,
We do our part as much as we can,
Participating in honesty and justice,
And pray for God's sweet healing hand.

I can hear my Mother praying,
For Dad and his safe return,
But until we see him and feel his touch,
The light in the window still will burn.

Too, until we see him in his chair,
When we sit down to eat,
And bless our food with his return,
Will our family be complete.

The letters we receive from him,
Are always blessings to get,
Like just seeing him across from us,
In his chair, where he always sat.

That is a special blessing,
We all look forward to,
To see our family's happy smiles,
The way we use to do.

We're still happy and we're thankful,
Just lonely for a little while,
Until my Dad returns back home,
Then we'll have even bigger smiles
