Always On Time
I can hear the whistle blowing,
It's coming round the bend.
We can tell the time of day,
From years way back then.

That old train is always there,
I know he's right on time.
We watch for him each day,
Just chugging down the line.

The kids in our neighborhood,
Wait just to hear him blow,
The whistle for their pleasure,
And wave as on he goes.

There is so much here to see,
When he makes his trip each day.
Beautiful flowers all in bloom,
And all the kids at play.

Way back in the background,
A Church so tall and white,
Makes my days filled with joy,
To see these lovely sights.

I never get that lonely feeling,
Because there's too much here to see.
I can't think of anywhere more beautiful,
No place I'd rather be.

I know I will always have friends,
Waiting for me each day,
Waving their little hands at me,
I know what their waves say.

Come again and blow that whistle,
It's now just part of life,
We love that friendly smile you have,
And pray for you each night.

You've really become a friend,
To all in this neighborhood.
Maybe some day I'll drive a train
Oh, But if only I could.

I'd blow my whistle too,
Because it thrills kids so.
I'd like to be a railroad man,
And make friends as I go.

I know you get to see the world,
Well at least you see a lot,
All the different things you see,
And all the friends you've got.

I guess I have some time to wait,
Until that day arrives,
I'm only just a kid right now,
But a train some day I'll drive.

I'll watch for you again tomorrow,
And don't forget to blow,
I'll stand out in the front,
Until I see you go.

I will see you again tomorrow,
I hope your day's just fine,
And don't be late tomorrow,
Just see that you're on time.
