Autumn Apples

Just before the trees lie bare
There blooms an Autumn blush,
A pretty, glowing portrait
Within the falling hush.

As Summer's strength is blown away
It turns to kiss the frost,
A winsome glow is born
Before the warmth is lost.

A colour blooms, upon the trees
We grasp and gladly eat,
A savor, flavor, yearning,
Soft purity to keep.

Each apple, bursting crimson red
The flush, alive and well,
With urge of life and vigor, cries
Come, where all good dwells.

Take me, hold me, taste me,
I speak of warmth to you,
Each bite, a memory explode,
Unique, of all you knew.

Arrange me in a basket
To carry over dale,
To picnic 'neath bright Autumn trees,
Breathe in and then exhale.

Then rest and watch the hills explode
With Autumn's glorious hue,
Glory in the raging fire
While it still burns for you.

A lingering joy, a flame of hope
Before the Winter cold,
God paints upon His canvas
A wonder to behold.

Hold the sweetness, fragrant, warm
And kiss it's pretty cheek,
The blush of perfume, red
Your memory to pique.

A parting flush of awesome colour
To bear us through the chill,
The gentle blush of golden touch
Our hearts to sweetly fill.
