Calico Friends
We are calico
kitties,
And we are best
of friends.
Wherever one might
go,
The other marches
in.

You can't really
separate someone,
If they are truly
friends.
We are company
to each other,
And will be to
the end.

We run and jump
and chase each
other,
And play with
strings of yarn.
Sometimes we play
outside,
When there are
no signs of harm.

We like to climb
the tree up high,
And play in our
own swing.
It was made just
for the two of
us,
With a board and
vines and string.

And we like all
those things,
Especially since
there are no mice.
We make do with
homemade toys,
And they are always
nice.

My Master calls
us his sweet trophies,
And of course
we're really very
sweet.
He wouldn't give
us up for anything,
Not to any one
for any treat.

Our calico coats
are so many colors,
We'd blend in
any season,
But especially
now that it is
harvest time,
Our colors really
fill the reason.

We like to run
and play in leaves,
And watch the
wind blow through.
You never know
how much fun it
is,
Until they all
come falling down
on you.

We like to lie
belly up,
Out in the warm
sunshine,
And feel the breeze
blow through our
fur,
And really enjoy
our time.

We have another
friend and he's
a bird,
So he won't come
too near.
I think he might
be scared perhaps,
Of some things
that he did hear.

Sometime he gets
a little fussy,
Afraid we're getting
a bit too close.
He's okay as long
as he stays away,
And stays on his
fence post.

I think I hear
my Master calling
us,
It's just about
our supper time.
But we still have
lots to do,
Until his clock
will chime.

But when he's
ready for lights
out,
No arguing do
we do.
We cuddle up in
our own bed,
As he says..not
a sound from you!

No more running
or jumping up,
We know our day
is done,
But he arises
bright and early,
So we rise up
with the sun.
