Christmas Evening

Christmas Evening is before us,
The day has been a blessing to me,
Children and Grandchildren visit,
Together we remembered Thee.

The table has been cleared,
Food stored and presents put away,
What a Joyous Time we have had on,
Christ’s wonderful Birthday.

The morning welcomed us with
A fresh snow blanket on the ground,
Presents were exchanged and opened,
Sweet happiness was all around.

Children playing inside and out,
Laughter filled each and every nook,
Hearts were light and happy as,
We begin Christmas dinner to cook.

Turkey with dressing a tradition,
Cranberry sauce and Pumpkin Pie,
Yams, dumplings and fresh hot rolls,
Only a sample of the foods we supply.

Kids ready to "dig" in and start eating,
Wait we have not said Grace yet,
Everyone settles down for the feast,
Knowing overeating is a big threat.

Mealtime was a wonderful success,
Tummies full and hunger sated,
Everyone has had a bountiful meal,
Hearts and minds of all are elated.

Story Time to remember the reason,
We Celebrate this Joyous Day,
Christ was born in Bethlehem,
A precious Baby sleeping on the hay.

The kids sit with eyes wide open,
Attentive they sit very still,
Listen to every word spoken,
The story of the Baby seems to thrill.

The house is empty and silent yet,
I still hear the laughter in my heart,
I feel the love that remains here from,
The precious family that I am a part.

Christmas Evening is a memory of,
The activities of this Christmas Day,
I give my Thanks to God for,
The Baby that lay in a Manger of hay.
