Cobblestone Walk
I have a feeling, right this very moment
To tightly lace my riding shoes,
And gallop up your cobblestones
To spend the day with you.

I would ride right to your doorstep,
Maybe from the journey, tattered torn;
With joy and love, you'd say come in.
And so gently close the door.

Yet truth is, we're far apart
In time, upon life's carousel,
But.. my heart still rides your cobblestones
Each morning, can't you tell..

For our friendship has us covered
There's so much we can share,
When just a mere click away
We're so very near to care.

I really can be in your life
E'en more, than door to door,
For, day or night, we have connection
In kindness and support.

While here I potter day by day
At a little this and that,
I peel the apples, make a pie
And lay out my welcome mat.

Now I'm pondering here, so quietly
Watching fireflies so bright,
The sun is going down
The lamps are lit for light.

I'm listening too, intently
Imagining around the bend,
You, riding up the cobblestones
Because you are my friend.

My teapot's resting on the stove
Warming for another brew,
Oh, is that your steed I hear-
Bringing pretty you.

Just drop now out the saddle
And walk the cobblestones to me,
Come, I've been waiting....Oh...so long
It's you I want to see.
