Coffee Time

Here is a special invitation
For coffee at our special place,
Very simple, not for dolling up all tizzy
No fancy china, frilly lace.

We won't be ordering cheesecake calories,
Cream topping, far too sweet,
Fairy cakes, strawberry sponge
Or choc éclairs, for treats.

Because, such is never needed
To dissipate the sad,
We'll have so much we need not say
To make us more than glad.

You see, we'll not be talking much,
For tender moments, made like this
Are far too sacred, many words
Would spoil our purest bliss.

For all that is most treasured
About the way that we two feel,
Can't be bandied all about
'Tween friends that are so real.

We'll but have our table set for two
With coffee kettle steam,
Supremely delicious in temptation,
Spoons twirling cappuccino cream.

In frothy dusted cinnamon,
To idly dream, produce,
Mocha, heart shaped coffee swirls
Within our corner booth.

Down on the quiet corner
Of that quaintly genteel street,
Where they've opened up a Coffee Shoppe
Where we would love to meet...

Ignoring all the hustle bustle,
In our most lovely day,
Sharing treasure, never measured,
Sipping thoughts, we'd want to say.

How our God so 'specially gives us
Pleasures, simply sweet as yet,
As we ponder why a fragrant coffee
Pleases so, the soft palette..

Does it reach some memory,
Stimulate a sentimental hearth-
Where friends forever stay,
Dreaming from the heart.

Sitting thus in peacefulness
In God's love forevermore,
Being as, just you and I
In the lasting, we live for.

Kindness, such unfurling warmth
In all we say and do,
Thanking God He made us ' us'
His choice of 'me and you.'

So glad how we've arrived as one,
A warm gift to our heart,
Pure loveliness served up, reveals
The joy of all we are.

Our every moment given
A gift from God's own heart,
As we drink of life together
In the love that He imparts.

As there we dwell in joy, so sweet
Just how it's meant to be,
No more as me, myself and I
But close, in what we cannot see.

Then, sadly, when the shadows fall
Gazing softly, we will sigh,
Whispers catching in our throat,
Tears spilling from our eyes.

And as we rise to go-
We'll know that we will never part,
Though we may separate in time
We'll stay together, heart to heart.

For the life that Jesus came to give
Has joined us e'er as one,
In Him, we are, forevermore
In Him we're bound in love

The most important things are the hardest
to say because words diminish them.
Stephen King

"In the end, nothing we say or do in
this lifetime will matter as much as
the way we have loved one another."

The only thing that counts is faith
expressing itself through love.
