First Love
Do you remember your first love,
And how sure you were that it would last?
Well we can be in love one day,
But next day it's in the past.

In school I'd sit and watch him,
As he studied at his desk.
I wondered if he ever thought of me,
But Oh, I'd dare not ask.

Then one day he asked me,
If I'd go to the prom with him.
I was so excited I wanted to cry,
With tears in my eyes my vision dimmed.

That was my very first kiss,
Sitting alone outside the gym.
The only important thing to me was,
I was sitting close to him.

My very first formal dress,
All pink and dainty and all grown up.
I wondered if he'd still think I was pretty,
When I wore saddle oxfords with my poodle skirt.

What a thrill it was to know,
He picked me for his date.
I was ready for the prom at three,
Though the prom wasn't until eight.

By nine my feet were killing me,
I kicked off my shoes to rest,
He sat there with his Mohawk hair cut,
To me he looked his best.

Balloons were floating in the air,
And music blaring loud and clear,
And I heard him whisper softly,
Something in my ear.

You are much too pretty to be my date,
Although I'm glad you are.
Maybe next year when I'm older,
Dad will let me use the car.
As time moved on it was getting late,
I hated to see the night would end,
But as he walked me to the door,
He kissed me on the cheek again.

So if tomorrow I don't hear from him,
I still will have that night I can remember,
When I lived out my dream with him,
And that will be forever.

Dreams keep us planning,
And looking toward the future.
And some day my dreams will come true,
And life becomes a little richer.
