"Fishing Upstream"
I have to swim
upstream
There is no other
way to go,
To find my destination
I cannot slip
within the flow.

I will encounter
opposition
And face a fierce
attack,
The fear and terror
on the way
Will from my goal
detract.

But, God will
keep me tracking
For up is all
I know,
He made me for
this journey
My life is not
my own.

In me, He'll dart
and leap and twist
To dodge the cruel
claws,
Protect me from
all evil
While traversing
this cold fjord.

I cannot pause
within the shallows
And wallow in
myself,
Where it is warm
and mellow
For I am more
propelled.

To leave behind
distractions
Intent upon my
Lord,
To Him alone I
leap
No toilsome burdens
hoard.

There is a place
I'm bound,
My Lord will be
the way,
His life that
flows within
Will keep me from
the fray.

My God uplifts
my spirit
In Him, I am alive,
My life is flying
free
I will never ever
die.
