Hanukkah Blessings

A Festival of household blessing
Our prayer for all this day,
To celebrate the second canture
The blessed eight day holiday.

A Festival, Hanukkah lights
The menorah lamp to guide our way,
Oil of shamash we will pass
To spark one flame each day.

Shamash the servant candle lasts
Til the eighth candelabrum's glow,
Within our window daily lit
So all will see and know.

Day one, sundown, bring forth kindling light
Of commands our Father gave,
The God of Universe sanctified
We are alive for Him this day.

Day two, nightfall, now we seek His glory
Shekaniah of old for us,
The God of our fathers preserve
This season Thee we trust.

Day three, we give thanks for our bread
That all our daily needs are met,
Grant to us a grateful heart
For all our God has sent.

Day four, may peace protect our borders
This miracle publicized for all to know,
Peace without our garden gates
And peace within our homes.

Day five, Mother Hannah's loyalty remain,
To worship God we dare,
May every family bond be strengthed
By the love we have to share.

Day six, may hands of courage reach
To help the ones God sends,
That need protection, shelter,
Oh Hashem, please support our friends.

Day seven, may each tomorrow bring
The best from Hashem's loving heart,
We celebrate this day, His might
To bless us on life's path.

Day eight, the oil of Shamesh lights
The full Hanukkah lamp,
We praise The King of the universe
For life from His own hand.

Praise God as we feast upon Rugelach
Sufganiot donuts, mandelbrot,
Hannukah poppyseed candy
And potato latkes very hot.

A Festival of lights, eight full nights
Of rededication, mitzvah peace,
As we light the shabbat candle first
For miracles to never cease.

Poetry from the Heart

Blessed are you, Lord our God,
King of the Universe,
Who sanctified us
by his commandments,
and has commanded us to
kindle the lights of Hanukkah
Blessed are you, Lord our God,
King of the Universe,
Who wrought miracles for our fathers
in days of old, at this season
Blessed are you, Lord our God,
King of the Universe,
Who has kept us alive,
and has preserved us,
and enabled us to reach this season
