"Hanukkah Has Come"

Oh Father, tell us once again,
Why do we light the candles?
Why do we love the glow?
Why is the lamp such a treasure?
Father, what do we need to know..

My sons, for Hanukkah, we are glad
To rise today to celebrate.
Praise The Yahweh that we love-
The Menorah is our joy,
To His great light we come.

We will dedicate our altar
On this, our Festival of Lights,
Our hearts will lift in praise
As we eat pastries, kindle candles,
For the Macabees today.

We will dip our puffy Loukomades,
Oil fry, potato livivot,
Feast on Ma'amoul cookies,
Pretzel symbols,
And donut Sufganiyot.

The driedel we will spin,
For gelt, the chocolate foil coins
On this our special day.
We will spin and spin together
To see what it may say.

We will spin our little sevivon
On our joyous holiday,
Pile up the nuts, twirl the dreidel,
Letters nun, gimmel, hay, and shin,
For the miracle of Israel.

Though many were the foes against us
Back in the days of old,
In breaking down our mighty walls
And defiling ritual oils-
The temple jug would never spoil.

For Yahweh is our mighty rock,
Of His saving hand we sing.
Granting courage to our fathers
From their heroic acts,
In saving truth we live.

I will carry the petite candle,
The pure Shabbat candle,
Spark Shamash, to light the way-
After sunset, light the window lamp,
Shadows will be cast away.

The powers of faith and justice
Seem small, but are the purest light,
Every night, we will light Menorah
To shine on the darkest path,
As we unroll the Torah.

For our eight full nights of light
Dedication we will sing,
As we share our mitzvah peace,
Praise Yahweh for the mighty rescue
The miracles that never cease.

This is our Festival of blessing my sons,
Our household prayer this day,
Glorious our celebration and rest,
The second canture,
Our blessed eight day holiday.

Poetry From The Heart

Blessed are you, Lord our God,
King of the Universe,
Who sanctified us by
His commandments,
and has commanded us to
kindle the lights of Hanukah
Blessed are you, Lord our God,
King of the Universe,
Who wrought miracles for our fathers
in days of old, at this season
Blessed are you, Lord our God,
King of the Universe,
Who has kept us alive,
and has preserved us,
and enabled us to reach this season.
