Happy Thanksgiving

Every day is a day to be thankful for,
But the day we set aside for Thanksgiving,
Puts a special meaning to all we are blessed with,
And for just the blessing of living.

Many years ago the pilgrims came,
Made friends with the Indians of this land.
They helped each other with learning skills,
They worked hard, hand in hand.

They brought knowledge to the Indians,
And the Indians helped them learn new skills.
When the crops of corn and all were harvested,
They ground them into meal.

They came to celebrate a day of blessings,
We call Thanksgiving Day,
To celebrate the goodness of the Earth,
By God's blessings in this way.

We are blessed above all people,
Over all the other lands.
Richer than the Kings that rule some people,
For God is in command.

Thanksgiving is a time to be,
With family and friends so dear.
Some will cook and bake cakes and pies,
For some have not been seen in years.

Family get-to-gathers are always fun,
And some bring happy tears,
It seems to draw us closer together,
Like Thanksgiving, Christmas and New year's.

Some have passed away,
And those we'll certainly miss,
But then there are new babies now,
That bring us happiness and bliss.

Just be thankful for what you have,
Praise God for His goodness and grace,
And someday we will see Him,
And Thank Him face to face!

Right now the cooler air is blowing in,
And leaves are falling brown and gold,
I love to walk among them,
As the weather's turning cold.

They float like colored butterflies,
Gently floating down,
Soon the trees will be leafless,
As they cover up the ground.

Friends and family will soon be gathered,
And we'll have such fun,
Baking pies and cakes of all kinds,
Sure to remember their favorite ones.

When all have arrived and we sit down,
We'll have the turkey and dressing,
Cakes and pies but first of all,
Give Thanks to God for all our blessings.

Happy Thanksgiving to all,
And be thankful for the bountiful blessings,
For all His goodness teaches us,
A very important lesson,
BE THANKFUL
