Hidden Garden

I searched, for such a garden,
I longed for it so much,
I wandered hither, thither,
Craving for its touch.

My feet dragged on the pavement,
Then, there it was, ahead,
I skipped and ran in pleasure,
The past behind me fled.

I grappled for the gate latch,
In there, I knew was love,
My heart was tired of searching now,
I knew this was, the one.

And when my feet there felt the Glory
I never could turn back,
For here I skipped in roses
With nothing more to lack.

So glad I was to step on now,
With only life in view,
I danced, I twirled, excited
For here the joy I knew.

I found it so intriguing
How God put me on this Earth,
To feel of all the little things
Beginning from my birth.

I saw how water moves,
Enjoyed its warmth, and cool,
In this garden of surprises
Where I might grasp its rule.

I felt of velvet blossoms,
I swam in swirling springs,
I rolled and played in golden fields
And felt of painful stings.

To taste, to touch, to feel, to laugh
And cry when it's too hard,
God given sweet sensations,
The beating of my heart.

Then, the feeling of the grit beneath
Gave me the crave to fly,
I found that living here's not best
When I could live on High.

For as I moved I came to know
That I was here for more,
This Earthly garden but a taste
Of all ahead and more.

And I was glad, He gave of Earth
That I might find His love,
To feel the inhibitions here,
To want to live above.

He gave me wondrous choices,
In living here below,
To show me bit by bit
The more of Him to know.

Then when I've learnt enough
The limits of this life,
I'll hear my call to Heaven's garden
That's hidden by His light.

And I will soar within that Garden
That Jesus died to give,
Cleansed and purified by Him,
My heart as His, to ever live.
