Little Princess

I'm called their Little Princess,
I'm the dearest thing they ever had,
And that's because I'm priceless,
To my Mom and Dad.

They watch and care for me,
They teach me right from wrong,
They will stand beside me always,
And will when I am grown.

A Mom is Mom, and a Dad is Dad,
As long as they shall live,
A parent's love never changes,
And with all they have to give.

I'm sure I brought them disappointment,
And worry that made them sad,
But never did they give up loving me,
Neither Mother or my Dad.

They knew I was only human,
And nothing about me close to perfect,
But to them I was the thing in life,
That made their life all worth it.

I was the neighborhood's Little Angel,
Until they got to know,
That I was only perfect to my parents,
Or so the story goes.

With an angel's face and rosy cheeks,
Who would ever guess,
I was just a little girl,
Just like all the rest.

I let them think that until I grew up,
And now they know the truth.
I used to be called Little Angel,
Now they call me Ruth.

Well when I have children,
I'm sure I'll feel like my parents did,
But sooner or later they will find,
I'm just like any other kid.

I just wish all children,
Had a home as sweet as mine,
Where they felt loved and needed,
With parents sweet and kind.

I brought children home at times,
And we would spend the night,
Laughing and giggling,
And having pillow fights.

Mom and Dad didn't care,
Because at least they knew,
I was at home,
And what we girls would do.
