"Lucky" My Friend and Companion
My name was Lucky,
And the dearest friend my master had,
But now I've crossed the rainbow bridge,
And left my master sad.
Please know that I am happy here,
Though I miss you so,
I'm now in doggy land,
Where all good doggies go.
Don't be so sad for long,
There are others that need a home.
You are just the one to take them in,
So they are not alone.
It is such a wonderful place,
For pets to go and rest.
I've given my love to you my friend,
And tried to give you my very best.
When I needed a loving friend,
You were always there,
When you were lonely I tried to comfort,
To show how much I cared.
I have many friends here in doggy land,
Most I didn't know,
But all have been a friend to me,
Everywhere I might go.
They have comforted me,
For they understand,
Giving up the Master that I loved,
To come to this new land.
Don't worry so about me,
And try not feel so blue.
We have balls to chase and bones to chew,
There's plenty here to do.
I'll never forget you though,
No one can take your place,
You've always been so good to me,
I'll remember my master's face.
I don't want you to ever forget me,
How we romped and played at times.
But sometime we get tired,
And have to leave some things behind.
I watch the sun come up in the morning,
Just as you do there.
But it's not quite the same as before,
When we had these things to share.
I can still feel your comforting touch,
As you stroked me tenderly,
We'll always have those memories,
And your face I still can see.
Here, there is no end of time,
A doggy heaven will always be,
A heaven just for us,
For those who served you faithfully.
I'll always be there everywhere you go,
Walking by your side,
I'll watch and protect you always,
With dignity and with pride.
