Mountain Church

Each morning beneath,
A glowing bright sun,
I go to the little Mountain Church,
This is how my day is begun.

Cold and airy for the chill is,
Blowing in off the Mountain snow,
No fire this early in the morn yet,
To find pleasure in my Lord I go.

He warms the soul from the inside,
Wraps me in a blanket tight
I give my troubles to Him right there,
He sure can make my day go right.

Slowly I kneel at the little altar,
I must seek God before I begin,
Daily chores such as building a fire,
I thank the Lord for forgiveness of sin.

Hallelujah, I found Christ,
Many long, long years ago,
He walks with me daily,
Giving strength as His love flows.

Guess I better get moving on,
Others will also come to pray,
Fill the wood bin just out the door,
Build a fire to bring warmth this way.

I look at the bright blue skies,
A few clouds scattered around,
Think this is a lot like life where,
Burdens crop up to surround.

Just as the sun shines to clear away,
Dark clouds looming on high,
God can wipe away our burdens,
His sweet comfort He'll apply.

No set time for this little Mountain Church,
Service is when enough people can arrive,
Winters are harsh and abrasive yet with,
God's help we battle the elements and survive.

Thank God for the beautiful morning,
A little Mountain Church topped with a Cross,
Here my life was changed many years ago when,
God washed my heart clear of sinful dross.
