My First Car

I thought I'd never get the money,
To own my very first car,
It was hard to save enough,
For one that would take me far.

I didn't want one that was all worn out,
What good would that do me,
I needed one to make me proud,
For all my friends to see.

She is a beauty I must say,
All bright red, shiny and clean,
The girls all watch as I go by,
Makes me feel a little mean.

I'd ask them if they'd like a ride,
But too many are after me,
I guess that will wear off,
And maybe me eventually.

I worked so hard to buy this car,
I need to clear my thoughts,
Is sporting my new car,
Worth all the friends I lost.

He thinks he's something special,
They are all beginning to say,
He thinks he's better than we are,
But he'll come down some day.

But now that I have my wheels,
I can enjoy with friends,
And all those negative sayings,
Will soon come to an end.

My girlfriend is all smiles now,
When I go to get my date,
To think I bought it all myself,
And now I won't be late.

We will be all dressed up,
As we take off for the prom,
And she will be my date,
With a time to have her home.

She'll look so lovely and sophisticated,
Some boys won't know what to think.
But she and I are getting serious,
I'm thinking about a ring.

I'll have to get this car paid off,
Which won't take a long time,
But she won't mind a little wait,
She's just a special kind.

We have a long time to think about,
What all the future holds,
But we are both so much in love,
Our love just won't go cold.
