Northern Cross

Each time I travel around the Northern Country,
I hope to see the lights,
Surrounding that lonely Old Cross,
Glowing like a rainbow brightly in the night.

It reminds me of my Savior,
When I see the Old Cross standing there,
Colors like a halo lighting up the Cross,
Spreading beauty everywhere.

It is sights like this that brings me back,
To the time He gave His Life.
And to see the lights surrounding the hill,
Reminds me of the price.

How great a price He paid that day,
Unworthy as I could be,
But to God somehow,
A great Love He had for me.

Sometimes when I feel somewhat lonely,
I think of what He felt,
Not knowing half the pain He suffered,
From all the blows that were dealt.

If we are not reminded of the price He paid,
From things we see and hear,
We sometime wander away from God,
And often pay so dear.

Sometime we fail to hear Him speak,
Or follow where He leads,
And that is when we need Him most,
And He brings us to our knees.

No need to think that you can hide,
Or cover up your deeds,
He knows when you are following,
Or sowing your bad seeds.

I look forward to every train trip,
I know I'll see the lights,
Though standing on that hill alone,
Just a Cross in the dead of night.

I'm on my way back home now,
But will never forget that Cross,
To lose the memory of that hill,
Would only bring me loss.
