Our Heroes

We have so much to be thankful for,
And mostly for our Heroes.
Serving their Country bravely,
Defending our Nation as they chose.

We can never repay our Servicemen,
For risking their lives to save,
The freedom we are accustomed to,
The All American Way.

I often think as I lie in bed,
About the foxholes they lie in,
Hoping just for a little rest,
Before the next battle begins.

Missing families and watching children,
As they grow up without their Dad,
To tuck them in their little beds,
The worst nightmare they have ever had.

I often wish that I could tell them,
Soon your Dad will be,
Once again at home with you,
Again for you to see.

Wives are to be honored for bravery,
Facing life without the Father's there,
For raising kids alone at home,
It really isn't fair.

But life doesn't always seem fair,
Yet still it's part of life,
And while the husband may face death,
What holds the family together is the wife.

Many have had to suffer,
The absence of someone,
That called them away from home,
Leaving some alone.

Prayer is the best remedy,
For loneliness and fear.
Sometime just hearing their voice,
Makes them seem so near.

Letters are a great way to cheer them up,
A care package for them to share,
Some share theirs with children,
Starving over there.

I love to see the American Flag,
Waving high up in the wind,
It gives you a sense of being near,
Their fight for peace coming to an end.

We can't give up our hope for freedom,
That's what America is all about,
As the Flag waves high above us,
And the Eagle stands for strong and stout.

Just look into the Eagle's eyes,
And watch the Flag fly high,
Brings hope and happiness to all,
As our Servicemen come marching by.

The Good Old Red White and Blue,
And Soldiers brave and strong,
Give us hope and loyalty,
That we'll continue on.
