Mischievous
Raccoon Family
Last year
we had the
most darling,
Mischievous
Raccoon Family,
Visiting every
night round
dusk,
And later
on so lazily.

We called
them the little
bandits,
'Cause with
the masks
on their faces,
Of big black
rings round
their eyes
they,
Look like
Zorro going
places.

They are cute
and roly poly,
So friendly
besides being
smart,
To walk upon
the patio,
Begging for
food, their
big time art.

Feeding Raccoons
in the backyard,
Is quite the
fun experience,
Never tiring
of their antics,
Oh how they
love an audience.

What is great
is watching
young ones,
Walking down
a tree trunk
head first,
Romping and
playing round
the yard,
Then craving
water for
their thirst.

You can say
all Raccoons
are just,
Mischievous
because they
really,
Are especially
when they
know,
We think they're
so cute and
silly.

Last Fall
this Raccoon
Family,
Climbed up
the downspout
to the roof,
Making our
chimney their
own den,
Leaving big
evidence and
proof.

Yes they saw
our place
as their source,
For food raiding
the Green
Rosy,
To see what
was there
to eat and,
At times sleep
all warm and
cozy.

Such is life
we all live
and learn,
Four Raccoons
inside the
chimney,
Quarrel screeching
loud like
barn owls,
So angry and
very whiney.

Finally one
evening when
they,
Were out and
about we wired
round,
The chimney
and top and
called The,
Critter Getter
to be farm
bound.

Being on a
farm they're
happy,
In trees near
creek water
to drink,
Eat lots of
food and since
they're strong,
Swimmers swim
the creek
and not sink.

Oh we had
to replace
our roof,
That Summer
because of
the tears,
To shingles
and that cost
was high,
Extensive
damage and
repairs.
