Splendid Creatures

I saw, love, in their movement,
Swift, graceful elegance,
The wonder so expressed
In their prance, a pretty dance.

I could see it in their colored sheen,
That beauty is ahead,
How God created us for life and light
Beyond the body's death.

They told me, Jesus loved me
I could see it, in their way,
He made them just to show me
How He saves me from the grave.

I gazed upon the tiny chicks,
Dependent, helpless, weak,
Precisely how I sit, I feel-
Beneath My Father's feet.

I listened to the clucking
The crooning, gentle, soothing tones,
Bestowed upon the little ones
And knew, I too, am not alone.

Yes, I also have a Father
Forever watching me,
With caring, feeding, guiding nurture
Now, eternally....

I watched them flutter down
And thought God gave them wings,
What delight must He then plan
When I shall soar with Him.

I looked upon those feathers
That never spoil with time,
Protection, cover every day-
That My Father said, 'tis mine.

I noted how they call above
Beaks lifted to the sky,
I knew the Father formed that too
To point me home on high.

I felt joy in their being
And if their joy to be alive,
Is heaven, then for me, Oh joy-
What more might God provide.

Oh yes, His splendid creatures,
Designed with life in mind,
To wonder at the awesome Glory-
The Father's love to find.

For since the creation of the world
God's invisible qualities---
His eternal power and Divine nature---
have been clearly seen.....
