Autumn's Sweet Memories

An Autumn day on Halloween,
The stork brought a baby small,
He grew into a family giant,
Left loving memories to recall.

Sweet memories bring smiles of,
A man loved many years true,
Gentle and kind a family man,
Faced each day with love anew.

Taught his son the many merits of,
Boy Scouts for awards to achieve,
Worked diligently with confidence,
The son greater awards did receive.

Yes there are memories,
Cherished and held dear,
The many times spent with,
A loving Father near.

A Chef that cooked a meal,
Grand as the very best,
Often treated family to,
The finest food to ingest.

A Salesman known by name,
Siding he happily sold,
Giving the benefits of,
And only truths were told.

Bringing home the bacon,
A precious Dad did succeed,
He filled many of our wants,
And always saw to our needs.

Talking on the CB Radio,
Morse Code swift beneath his hand,
Teaching and showing each day,
To face life obeying God's command.

Regrets slip in the memories,
Causing young hearts to ache,
Life fled quickly from one loved,
No loving good-byes to partake.

A family man born on Halloween,
Left a legacy of which to be proud,
I love and miss you my precious Dad,
A life to your honor I have avowed.

Autumn is a good time of year,
Nature slows as plant life rest,
Animals scurry 'round about,
Storing Winter's fare abreast.

Children will soon be all dressed,
In costumes wild and scary,
Seeking treats on which to feast,
Hoping for bag hard to carry.

Each child I see happy and smiling,
Brings memories to the mind,
I was blessed to have you as a Dad,
An upstanding giant of mankind.

I Miss You Dad
