One Cross Three Nails

My Savior was crucified
Long ago and far away,
On a hill called Mt. Calvary,
But not where He would stay.

Dragged through the streets,
Spat on and beaten,
Humiliated and scorned,
By a crowd of heathen.

Not believing His message He spoke,
How He was sent to save the lost,
Yet He was willing to die for them,
Being nailed to the Cross.

I wasn't there but I see the Cross,
I've read of His suffering and why He came,
Drops of blood ran down His body,
As they put Him to shame.

I can envision Him nailed to that Cross,
And I can almost sense the pain,
With nails in His hands and feet,
As they left Him there to hang.

As He labored to breathe,
With His weight pulling Him down,
Against the cruel rugged Cross,
And a head piece of thorns for a crown.

But as it is known by God's Holy Word,
Jesus stayed in the tomb only three days,
Then came forth from the tomb,
And went on his way.

Word went out through the land,
And they did see,
That Jesus is King of Kings,
And shall always be.
