Times Past
I wander through my mind,
To the times long past,
Smiles spread across my face,
As sweet memories are cast.

The home I once knew was,
Always filled with love,
God was the leader,
Our Father up above.

Harvest time came in plenty,
Apples and pears galore,
We would pick happily and,
There seemed to be much more,

Flowers grew across the yard,
In apparent disarray,
Yet they spread and flourished,
In a pretty colored spray.

We kids would play on the balcony,
Over the porch in the moonlight,
Look across and see the twinkling stars,
It was a beautiful sight.

You could see signs of life,
Everywhere you chose to look,
Even the crooked trees,
We would climb to read a book.

Kids running here and there,
Laughter ringing out,
Tag, chase and hide'n seek,
"Gotcha" we would shout.

The memories that come to me,
In this wandering of the mind,
Makes me want to return there,
Among the joyfulness I'd find.

Oh the years of happiness,
Lived in this beloved old farm place,
Bring sweet memories to me of,
A family life I love to embrace.
