Where Does It Go?
I climb upon the gate to see the road,
Leading out into the world,
My mind wonders where it goes,
Leaving my thoughts in a whirl.

Straight up the mountain side,
To a castle so great and grand,
A Prince to charm me with gifts,
Daily in my presence he'll stand.

Hidden by the dense clouds,
I bet there are many more,
Wonderful castles on the hills,
Filled with satin and gold decor.

Kings that wear the biggest crowns,
Overdressed and stuffy Queens,
I wish I could follow that road,
Wondering could it fulfill my dreams.

Oh,I don't want to climb mountains,
That is not my wish at all,
I'd much rather walk along the trail,
Listen to Nature's sweet calls.

Wonder if there are Bob Cats,
Running after a lone Hare,
I love to see the creatures God made,
Some are odd and some are rare.

There are maybe Elephants or,
A Giraffe tall and running free,
Eating leaves of many kinds,
Reaching to the top of the tree.

Do you reckon there are Lions,
Tigers or big Brown Bears,
I thought I saw one but it was,
Just some kids and a dog of theirs.

Mommy won't let me go beyond the gate,
She is afraid I will get hurt or lost,
'Cause she loves me very much you see,
She'd worry if that boundary I crossed.

I guess I'll just climb onto the gate,
Wondering where the road leads,
One day I will certainly go beyond,
Walking and running through the weeds.

I will grow up and be big and strong,
I can go many miles away then,
Travel into the dark dense clouds,
Go beyond the hills and bends.

I hear Mommy calling me,
She does that when I'm away,
She doesn't like me gone too long,
So I will go without delay.

Dreams will wait for me to return,
Then I shall wonder again,
What mystery lies beyond the gate,
One day I will find the answer my friend.
